Butterfly Lineage

In every sorority, lineages are more than tradition—they are lifelines. The Butterfly Lineage is a vibrant family within our sisterhood, symbolizing transformation, freedom, and beauty. Like the butterfly’s journey from caterpillar to chrysalis to wings, each member of this lineage embraces her personal evolution while lifting others along the way.

Alicia Ford, the visionary founder and President of Kappa Alpha Iota Sorority, Incorporated, affectionately known as Sylent But Deadly, is a true trailblazer committed to empowering women, fostering unity, and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community. Driven by her desire to create a safe, affirming, and empowering space for like-minded, feminine women of color, Alicia founded KAI on November 14, 2009, in Upland, California. Her mission was both simple and profound: to cultivate a sisterhood rooted in integrity, leadership, service, and the personal and professional advancement of its members.

Alicia leads with compassion, accountability, and an unwavering dedication to community service. Her example has inspired countless women to embrace their authenticity, walk confidently in their truth, and lead with intention. Under her guidance, Kappa Alpha Iota Sorority, Inc. has grown into a beacon of unity, empowerment, and excellence uplifting women, inspiring change, and strengthening communities one sister at a time.

Beyond her leadership, Alicia is a devoted mother of three and a proud “grannie” to one dog and two cats. Among her favorite community service initiatives are participating in the Suicide Prevention Walk and assisting with lunch service at Christ House in Washington, D.C.

Hello, my name is Tina, and I proudly serve as the Vice President and Butterfly Intake Mistress of Kappa Alpha Iota Sorority, Inc. I joined KAI to connect with women who share my passion for service, personal growth, and empowerment. Through this remarkable sisterhood, I’ve strengthened my commitment to creating meaningful and lasting change within our communities.

To me, KAI represents far more than unity—it embodies a lifelong bond grounded in loyalty, trust, integrity, respect, and dedication. These core values guide how we uplift one another and serve with intention. Authenticity and true sisterhood lie at the heart of everything we do, and KAI has provided the perfect environment for both to flourish.

Although I enjoy all of our service initiatives, my favorites include adopting families during the holidays and mentoring within the LGBTQ+ community. These moments allow me to inspire others, build meaningful connections, and witness the profound impact of compassion in action.

Kiarra Mayon

Hello, my name is Key, and I proudly serve as the Secretary of Kappa Alpha Iota Sorority, Incorporated. I crossed the beautiful pink sands of KAI on August 14, 2023. I’m a devoted Packers fan, the oldest of ten siblings, and the owner of a few fun quirks like saying the alphabet backwards and tying cherry stems with my tongue. I’m drawn to music, sunshine, and the warmth of summer.

To me, KAI is far more than a sorority it’s a family. It represents empowerment, sisterhood, and meaningful service, all grounded in the values of respect, loyalty, and unity. It’s a place where I feel supported, understood, and truly at home.

My favorite community service project is the William’s Cancer Foundation, a cause that holds deep personal significance. My younger brother was diagnosed with cancer at just one year old and bravely overcame it by the age of three. His resilience continues to inspire me to give back, uplift others, and serve with purpose through KAI.

Derian Lieteau

Hello! My name is Dee, also known as Big Sister Dauntless. I chose to join Kappa Alpha Iota Sorority, Incorporated because I was searching for a place where I could be accepted exactly as I am. When one of my sisters began pledging and I saw her beautiful crossover photos, my curiosity grew. I’d always dreamed of joining a sisterhood, but none ever felt like the right fit—until I spoke with Big Sister Limit3d Edition. She reassured me that KAI was a safe, authentic, and uplifting community. I took a leap of faith, and now I’m proud to call KAI my home.

My favorite community service project is giving back to the homeless. Witnessing their gratitude reminds me of the impact kindness can have. Even the smallest gesture—a smile, a meal, or a few encouraging words—can brighten someone’s day and bring a little more light into the world.

Hello, my name is Paige, also known as Kosmic Energy. I proudly crossed the radiant sands of Kappa Alpha Iota Sorority, Inc. on August 16, 2025 at 11:07 PM, as the Ace of the Destined Butterfly Gamma Line. I’m a devoted mother of five—two biological children, three stepchildren—along with a ten-month-old puppy, three cats, and a baby python. Professionally, I serve as a Social Worker in Florida’s Behavioral Health Department. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing (tap, West African, modern, hip hop, and ballet), cooking, hiking, music, swimming, fishing, crocheting, and surrounding myself with positive, uplifting energy.

I joined KAI because transformation is at the core of who I am. I believe in constantly evolving into a stronger, wiser version of myself. My favorite community service projects are Suicide Prevention and Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Awareness—causes deeply meaningful to me as a survivor. Through healing, I’ve discovered resilience, purpose, and the power of transformation.
